What's in store for 2012?
The days may be shorter and the weather colder, but we've got SUUSI on our minds! In fact,we're in the midst of planning for another exciting week of youth programmingfor our SUUSI kids. As we seek to create a loving and safe intentionalcommunity for all ages, we'll be putting in place a few changes, while keepingall that makes our SUUSI week so special. One important change is a *mandatory*parent meeting on Sunday evening. We'll let you know more details soon. We are also continuing to offer childcare for parents taking certain nature trips. More detailed information is in the spring catalog! For dietary reasons, Youth staffers are not authorized to take children to lunch or dinner. If you are new to SUUSI, or if you haven't attended for a while, visit our SUUSI Youth Program Overview page!
The Youth Team is always looking for ideas and suggestions for this coming summer!!!
E-mail the Youth Director at youth@suusi.org to let me know what you liked in the past, what you didn't like, and what you want to do in the future! Staff applications are accepted though out the year for responsible grown-ups and teens who enjoy working with children!
Youth Staff Job Descriptions can be found here.
Our Youth Staff members have experience working with youth in a wide variety of areas such as religious education classes, school settings, other camps and, of course, some are parents too. We are ALL focused on ensuring the safety and fun of every participant.
Youth Programming
Morning programming for SUUSI youth includes age group activities including traditional camp games, crafts, and music. Since we have grown by leaps and bounds, we will have multi-age groups for the 7-12 year olds. Each of these age groups will have 3-4 classes.
Afternoons are time for multi-age workshops for our older youth. Younger children remain with their age groups, and many participate in our most popular afternoon activity - nap time! See the Youth Program Overview for more details.
Youth Programming runs Monday through Friday 8:45 am - 12:15 pm and 1:45 - 4:15 pm to coincide with most adult workshops. Youth Workshops are listed in the spring catalog!
